I have Pereira's in the Bay area but not Palo Alto that I know of. Try searching Half Moon Bay, Peteluma and Sausalito. Some changed the name to Prara and Para. "The Church of the Sea" in Sausalito has been a great help.
My great-great grandparents were Jorge Joseph and Marianna Pereira Azevedo from Sao Jorge. They had seven children (six boys and a girl). My great-grandfather Joseph Azevedo settled in Tuolumne County (gold rush country). He was the only one using the name Pereira Azevedo. All the others used Azevedo Pereira.
