Margaret, I have here a one page biography of Gomes-Jardim and DeMatos beginings given to me by my cousin several years before he passed away. Maria Gomes Jardim was born Nov. 27,1872 - village of Sao Roque,Madeira Father was: Antonio Gomes Jardim Mother was: Inez DeJesus Daniel Navarro Carreiro DeMatos was born Jan 3,1851- village De Pao ,San Miguel, Azores Daniel was baptized at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church,Aqua De Pao Jan.29,1851 his godparents were Manoel Soares De Oliveira Cura and his wife Maria-Priest was Father Francisco Xavier Franca. Father : Manoel DeMatos Navarro Manoel was born March 16, 1814 and was baptized March 27,1814 in the same church. The godparents being, Antonia De Pimentel De Oliveira and Antonio Pineira Aruda. Mother : Maria De Trinidade Both families made their their way to Maui, Hawaii. Maria married Daniel on May 10, 1888 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Wailuku Maui (they had 17 children,12 survived).
