Aleixo Furtado was probably born around 1580 – 1600, and I only could realize that he was my oldest known ancestor carrying down the surname Furtado due to the notarial records of Vila Franca do Campo since the marriage records of Ponta Garça before 1690 or so are all lost. On 25 sep 1668 Ana Furtado and her husband Antonio da Costa Salgado sold a real state ( 3 alqueires) that she had received as dowry from her parents Aleixo Furtado and Maria Curvelo. That´s how it goes: Aleixo Furtado m. to Maria Curvelo (from Ponta Garça) / Ana Furtado m. to Antonio da Costa Salgado / Ana Furtado m. to Francisco da Costa sapateiro / Maria Furtado m. to Mateus de Sousa / Vicente Furtado m. to Ana Furtado (ggdaughter of Margarida Furtado from Vila Franca) / José Furtado [de Sousa] m. to Rita de Jesus [Vieira] And so on... up to me, here in Brazil!!
