While doing research on the freguesia of Santa Catarina in the Concelho of Castelo Branco on the island of Faial, I came across the phrase of "obito de exposto." The only thing I have been able to figure out is that in two Portuguese-English Dictionaries it translates as "displayed deaths." What does that mean? Does it mean an autopsy was done? Any help would sure be appreciated.
