Hello,
I am hoping someone will be able to do a thorough translation of this obit
for me. The image is clear, but the writing is difficult for me to make out.
This is my rendition with much left out.
On 3 September 1749 present the deceased of life, Alferes Joam Soares de
Figueiredo married with Maria de Braga, of the age about 72 years more or less
next to his death  received the sacraments of penitence ?...== left a will or
testament ==
I don't pick it up again until the 14th line at this Church of Santa
Barbara
Try as I may, I can't get any more than that. My interest is in knowing in
Joam was born in Santa Barbara, or was just a resident.
Theresa, I know you have his birth as 1689 in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria,
Açores. I take it you got that date from subtracting 70 from his date of
death?
I think I also have a "digo" (oops). It seems I somehow ended up sending two
attachments of the same image, and I don't know how to delete one
of the images, sorry.
Any help will be appreciated as my cousin and I are trying to ascertain who
the first Figueiredo born in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, was in our direct
line.--
