Looking for Azores records. Francisco Silveira de
Souza Coelho was my
great grandfather. He was born in the 1830's. I am
looking for information
on how I can track down where in Graciosa he was
from. His second wife,
(his first wife died) Maria Candida, was my great
grandmother, born in 1874.
I know my grandfather, Mateo, was born there in
Graciosa, September 13, 1874,
and immigrated early in the 20th century. My
grandmother, Mary Conde, who
was born January 10, 1878, also immigrated around the
same time, but I
don't know which island she was from. I know they
were married in Salem,
Mass in 1901, adn settled in Peabody, Mass. I'm just
wondering how I can
trace back to the Azores and find out more information
about them.
Just looking to be pointed in the right direction.
Mateus became Matthew Luz.
Thanks, Mariana
