Hi Katharine, A 1941 death in Los Angeles will be signed by the doctor, not a family member. Actually, in all my years of research, I don't think I've ever seen a death signed by a family member. Maybe it happens somewhere.
I can't remember if a 1941 death states the relationship of the deceased to the informant, though. I'll look this afternoon and see.
