Sounds right to me as one of my Portuguese relatives always pronounced
Korea - Gore-ee.

Correia should be pronounced pretty close to core-RAY-ah. But what
happens is the ending vowel gets clipped or dropped off. So it comes out
more like core-RAY. You say that fast 5 times and it'll sound like Gray.
