Here's a complete shot in the dark (with what few cookie crumbs I can find on the Internet).
Family Search has some Rhode Island marriages online, but no images. I found this marriage and I'm trying to chase the groom. I have the bride pretty much figured out. 9 Feb 1901 in Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island Jose Desilva Carneiro , born 1877, age 24, son of Francisco C. and Francisca (great, huh) married Maria Thereza Mello, born 1883 (she lied; born 1885), age 18 (explains the year - at least I know my people can subtract), daughter of Jose and Francisca (I know them as Jose de Mello and Francisca de Jesus or Conceicao Correia). When I find Maria Thereza coming to America for the 2nd time, she has her 2 daughters and the passaportes list his name as Jose da Costa Carneiro: http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/biblioteca_digital/PPDL1911-1912/PPDL1911-1912_item1/P40.html She uses Maria Costa up to the 1920 U.S. Census. She was in the Riverpoint area of West Warwick, Rhode Island.
