Hi everyone.
I was wondering if anyone here also has the Castelo surname in their
Azorean trees? I have traced mine to a Francisco da Costa Castelo
(1737-1793) who married Joanna Andrade. They were from Rosario, Lagoa,
Sao Miguel.
I believe that Castelo was Francisco's alcunha, and that it was then
passed down. I am looking for anyone else who has this name in their
tree. I haven't been able to find the casamento for Francisco's parents,
Antonio da Costa and Maria Fernandes, so I don't know if it came from a
grandparent or not.
Has this name appeared anywhere else? This was one of the first families
I researched, and as a result I feel compelled to follow the origin of
the name. : )
