This sounds wonderful, and I also wish that they were closer to Sacramento. PHCS is still holding Portuguese language classes. We usually have a Spring and Fall session. The session for this last fall were canceled do to a conflict that the teacher had. We will be having the classes this year and they will start in about a month or so. The teacher, Higina, also has a youth language class in Elk Grove. Here is the link for the Portuguese Historical and Cultural Society of Sacramento. If it were a one time thing it would make a trip to Manteca worthwhile but it goes on for a few weeks and it goes to a late hour (counting the trip back home). They have this in Manteca once of twice a year if memory serves me correctly and I believe they get quite a turnout for it. We did have Portuguese language classes in downtown Sacramento a couple of years ago but I believe they were was discontinued also and that was quite a journey on 50 to St. Elizabeth's in the rainy winter weather at 6 PM.
