I know we have a few teens and young adults on this list. If you are 18 by
July 1st, you can enter this contest (and I guess if it doesn't conflict
with your studies).

Southern CA Genealogy Society's Jamboree is Fri. Jun 10 to Sun June 12 in
Burbank, CA. That's Los Angeles County. There's nothing specific on
Portuguese at Jamboree (except me hosting the Portugal table at the
Genealogy Roundtable/Small World), but a lot of interesting things. Classes
on genealogy software, lectures on successful research, Native American,
DNA, organizing, using Ancestry.com, state and territorial censuses, how to
interest others in genealogy, Irish, naturalization records (American),
migration patterns (America), dating photos, burned out courthouses, Google
for Genealogists, and German genealogy. I just copied that from last year's
list and that was Friday only. There's a lot more on Saturday and Sunday.

The 2011 schedule isn't up yet (the woman who does this got sick), but
here's a bit of a preview.

There's vendor tables with Ancestry.com, Legacy, book sellers (but nothing
on Portuguese), societies, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR),
Sons of the Veterans of the Confederacy (SCV), photo people, DNA, New
England Historical Society, Godfrey Library, and it goes on and on.

If anyone from this list enters, I can probably write the letter of
recommendation for you. Hurry though. The deadline is Feb. 15th. And they
are sticklers for deadlines.
