I am one of those persons. My first 2 trips to the Azores were with the tour group. First was the tour to 4 islands, Madeira and Portugal. Second trip with Al and Ginny was a 3 week tour of all nine islands. Thereafter they have made all my travel arrangements to the Azores. What I liked about the group was that it was small and we had lots of free time. And with the free time sometimes a small group would think of something to do and usually Al came along, and other times Al suggested things to do. We'd get in a taxi and off we'd go. And in Ponta Delgada we went off to the Convent of Esperanca where the image of Jesus is in this convent...There is a famous religious celebration with this image every year in Ponta Delgada.
