Jeremy,

1) Wear comfortable shoes.
2) Bring a jacket. The venue's temperature may be quite different than your
internal thermostat. Sitting during lectures doesn't exactly get your heart
pumping! Seriously though, that's the # 1 complaint at the Southern
California Genealogy Jamboree - the rooms are too cold. They are controlled
by the venue and there's nothing that can be done.
3) I'm guessing that the hotels have soda and water machines, so you might
want some $1 bills.
4) Maybe scratch paper if you are a big note taker.

If feasible, I've seen some people carry their surnames on a piece of paper
in their pocket or purse. Or PDA or iPhone app now a days.

If you are shopping for software, Legacy and RootsMagic will be there (not
Ancestry who owns Family Tree Maker or The Master Genealogist). Look at
Legacy's and RootsMagic's info on their web sites. Then you can listen to
their sales pitch at the show.

Look at the schedule of classes too. I print mine out and put a star by the
lectures I really want to go to and a check mark by the ones of next
interest. I don't go to every lecture every hour either (at least not at my
regional Jamboree). I like to hang out in the exhibit hall too and talk to
people.

You'll find national speakers (names recognized in America on both coasts),
some international speakers (it says that they live in England or another
country), and a lot of regional speakers. I recognize John P. Colletta,
Colleen Fitzpatrick, and Maureen Taylor, as they've been at Jamboree, so
they would be national. Others, such as Eileen M. O'Duill must be
international, as it says she is based out of Ireland. Many of the
speaker's biographies say that they live in Boston, Connecticut, etc, so
they are local or regional speakers. Looks like a pretty good mix.
