Debera,

Jacinto Raposo Furtado could also be the son of Helena de Jesus. Need
another pair of eyes on that one. But you got the dad right! As to the
right....he's 28, c (casado = married), from the council (like American
counties) of Ra. Ge. (abbreviation for Ribeira Grande), from the freguesia
(village) of Lomba de Sta. Barbara, occupation trabalhador = worker, nao =
no (that's the literacy column, so not literate), destination Sandwich (old
term for the Hawaiian islands), and the observations were left blank.

On Maria Augusta, the dad is right. I would also guess the mom was
Florinda. He gets a bit squishy there on the right side of the page. She's
26, c (casado = married), same place as her hubby, occupation doma =
domestica (housewife), not literate, same desination.

Maria is 9, s (soltado? (spelling) = single), same place as her parents, no
occupation, not literate, same destination.

So Maria is born 1886ish and her parents were married (hopefully) before
that so maybe 1884 or 1885. Unfortunately, Lomba de Santa Barbara was
filmed up only to 1883: http://goo.gl/WyJsJ.

You will either have to write there for the marriage, hire a researcher, or
hope one of the list members has something on Lomba de Santa Barbara.

Once the squishy mom's names are cleared up though, you can jump back to
1867 (give or take a couple of years) and hunt for Jacinto's baptism and
then go to 1869 (give or take a couple of years) and search for Maria
Augusta's baptism (she'll be listed as Maria only). You can order the film
from your FHC (Family History Center).

These records are not online yet. They will one day, but no one knows of a
time line. They've been working on it I would guess for 8 or so years at
this point.
