Oakland had 4 high power lens machines...and ten and more years ago we fought for them. It got to be...sign up for 1 hour and wait an hour for another hour or go home.. When I was there 6 month ago there were 2 machine. Today there is only one remaining. The others are out of order and apparently that is it with them --- out of order. I have been told they will not be fixed. Can't get the parts or something like that. There are other machines that can be used with the Azorean films, but those machines just don't compare to the older machines. At least I , and others i have known, . never liked them. I think there are about 40 machines and at one time almost every machine was in use. I was there last month and I was the only one in that section. Whenever I have gone I am alone. Oakland has installed more computers and with Ancestry.Com available that is where the action is today Eloise In a message dated 4/1/2011 7:04:23 P.M. The only large one they have is for the reader that prints the images and you can’t stay on that one more than an hour at a time. I would think that they would have more since they are a regional center and they just did a big remodel. Oh well. I’m just glad they have the films. Jacki
