While I've had great success with my grandmother's side of the family back on Pico, I've been at a dead end with my grandfather's side. Years ago I wrote to the Diocese of Providence (where my grandfather was born) to inquire about a birth record for my grandfather with the hope of finding out about his parents Manuel Silveira Machado and Anna Lemos. The answer I received said to contact a parish in Fox Point where he suspected they might have lived, as it had the highest concentration of Portuguese. Is there anyone who knows anything about this parish ? My grandfather was born around April 1873, but I don't have an exact date. He was a twin.
