Hi Gail, I think I might have found the birth record of twins Manuel and Joseph. Using the FHC online records for RI births, there is a Joseph SILVA b. 4/15/1873 in Providence to Manuel and Anna. There is a Manuel SILVA b. April 15,1873 to a Manuel and Anna. The Index number is the same, the Source number is the same, the Ref. number is the same for both which tells me they are twins. So it looks like, for some reason, they used the SILVA surname in recording the births. I may be wrong but it looks awfully suspicious. https://www.familysearch.org/ Use their advance search with the info I have provided above. Unfortunately, they do not give you the actual record, just a minimum info but you can order one birth record from RI....... or FHC, I think, still lets you order the full record from them for about $4 if memory serves me correctly.
