Donna,

Most people have to research back about 200 years (early 1800s) to make a
connection to another researcher on this list. But there are always a lucky
few who find more recent matches.

Death records for 1910 to the present are at the Civil Registry. For you,
you'd need to write the Civil Registry in Vila Franca. The address can be
obtained from the Azores GenWeb here:

You didn't state when your ancestors married. Or where. If they married in
Vila Franca after 1910, the marriage is still at the Civil Registry. If
they married before 1910, the record is at the Biblioteca e Arquivo. Either
way, they don't really search for you. They might look a little bit on the
one who died in Aug 1956, since that is more specific.

A baptism record from 1878 is on film that you can order from your local
Family History Center. You just need the freguesia (village) and the
volunteer there will help you order it.

What years are the deaths from Ribeira Quente? If they are after 1910, you
need to write to the Civil Registry in Povoacao that holds those records.
The link is above. They will not search for you either. You need the date.

If this is too much, there is a list of researchers for hire on the Azores
Genweb. I believe all of them are members of this list too.

Good luck,
