I am going through birth records of my gr grandfather Joseph da Rosa
Furtado's siblings. There are various ways that they list the father
and grandfather. The one I am most curious about is this one which
says ....
Anna, filha de Joze da Roza Furtado, filho d’Antonio da Roza, digo,
d’Antonio Pereira d’Avilla e de Roza da
Conceição,.....

1. My question is when they say Joze da Roza Furtado, filho d’Antonio
da Roza, digo, d’Antonio Pereira d’Avilla --- does this mean that
antonio da Roza also goes by antonio Pereira d'Avilla? or does it
mean something else?

2. My other bigger family history question re: the above is how the da
Roza name comes into the family, because it does not show in the
earlier generations so I am thinking Antonio Pereira de Avila -- who
they say 'digo..Antonio da Roza - may bewhere this happens... does
this seem correct?

3.. Another lesser mystery but interesting is is how the father and
grandfather are listed for each of the children - it varies from child
to child - some names remain, some are dropped... the grandfather is
the same in all the rest of the children but in some cases below the
father Joze da Rosa - they include Furtado de Mendonca or not and 1
case call him Jose Pereira da Rosa, sometimes Just Jose da Rosa or
Jose da roda Furtado....
Ana - see above
Maria: dau of Jose da Rosa Furtado de Mendonca son of Antonio Pereira
de Avila
Roza: dau of Jose da Rosa Furtado son of Antonio Pereira de Avila
Victorina: dau of Jose da Rosa Furtado de Mendonca son of Antonio
Pereira de Avila
Emilia: dau of Jose Pereira da Rosa son of Antonio Pereira de Avila
Miquilina: dau of Jose da Rosa Furtado son of Antonio Pereira de
Avila
Joze: son of Jose da Rosa son of Antonio Pereira de Avila

4. Is there a specific naming tradition such as the son/daughter
first name then whose name goes first, the father's or mother's...

I appreciate any help,
thank you
Suzanne
