Some Family Finder results were released just a few hours ago. My dad matches Shirley Allegre. One way is through our Antonio and Constancia de Mello from Vila Franca and Sao Miguel. Shirley and I have that line pretty well documented, so when I saw that plate of spaghetti, it wasn't too hard to figure out.
But today, Lori Pacheco's results came in. She also matched my dad. But not Shirley. So knew it wasn't from the Vila Franca/Ponta Garca connection. I called her and she mentioned Achada. I also have Achada. Shirley doesn't. That explains why Lori is matching me and my dad, but she does not match Shirley. Lori will check out my dad's Gedcom so we can find the exact connection. Lori also has a match to Susan Vargas Murphy's brother. Lori mentioned her Pereiras and I checked Susan's Gedcom that she has uploaded on her brother's DNA page, and we think the match might be there on that Pereira line. So Lori is going to be contacting Susan to compare more note (and sort through the spaghetti). There are a couple of more matches to people in the DNA project that are not on this list. They don't have Gedcoms uploaded, so it's going to take a little more time to correspond back and forth to find their exact matches. But that's how we are using Family Finder to find new cousins!
