Diane L, It's going to be hard to make an instant connection to someone who was born as recent at 1883. A few people on this list have (very few), but it seems like researchers need to go back about 200 years (around the 18teens) to make a connection.
Machado is also Marshall. How did you get that your ancestors parents were Jose Machado Soares (24 Jul 1833 - 12 May 1905)? That info didn't come from research on your ancestor's death certificate. It came from somewhere else. Where did you get the exact dates? Was he the immigrant? Where have you chased him and his paper trail around to? For a list of sources to try, go here: http://homepage.mac.com/kmacardoza/Genealogy/HowTo.html We don't know what sources you have tried yet. What paper stuff have you dug up on them? Census, ship lists, city directories - what have you tried? You've got at good start with names, dates, and places, but where did you get that info from? It might help us help you. :) Cheri Mello Listowner, Azores-Gen Researching: Vila Franca, Ponta Garca, Ribeira Quente, Ribeira das Tainhas, Achada -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected].
