Repost for Pat McCoy, pat.mccoy1970 at gmail.com

I had posted this question earlier but didn't get a response. I am
now wondering if the godparents of Evangelina are brother and sister
given that the Ermelinda I am researching lost her father prior to
1901 and Evangelina was baptized in 1902.

In addition, I have a follow-up question regarding the picture that
appears on page 113 of the book: "Portuguese Spinner - An American
Story". The picture, taken during the 1920's, shows two
women...mother and daughter, both named "Emily NUNES". The caption
states that they are "nieces of Caetano M. FURTADO". According to my
research, the caption is a bit of a misprint.

Given that Maria do Espirito Santo FURTADO is the daughter of Jose'
CARREIRO and Rosa de Jesus, and that Emily NUNES, (the mother of Emily
NUNES), a.k.a. Ermelinda CARREIRO NUNES is the daughter of Jose'
CARREIRO and Rosa de Jesus, that would make the elder Emily NUNES the
sister-in-law of Caetano M. FURTADO. So that caption should read as:
"Emily NUNES (mother), and Emily NUNES (daughter), sister-in-law and
niece of Caetano M. FURTADO, in front of the company's first delivery
trucks when they were known as the North End Provision Co., 1920's".

Now......to my question regarding the two Emily NUNES in the picture.
Based on the clothing that the daughter is wearing, and her body
language, it appears she may be a teenager. (My research has
determined that the daughter was born in 1906.) Emily NUNES, (the
mother), appears to be sitting on the side of the vehicle and it
appears she may be pregnant! If that is the case, then it would date
this picture to 1920 itself!!! (Ermelinda's second child, a son, was
born in November of 1920.) If my guess is correct, that would make
the daughter about 14 years old at the time this picture was taken.

Is the dress, the daughter is wearing in the photo, typical of what
teenagers wore in Portuguese society of the 1920's? I'm just
wondering.

Thanks!!!
Pat McCoy
