AAA has a package deal. You stay at the Hotel Talisman which is in Ponta Delgada and just a couple of blocks from the main waterfront avenue. It is also walking distance to the archives. It is a lovely hotel and the service was excellent. Breakfasts were included and a restaurant onsite. The airport is Pope John Paul II. It is not very far from the city. If you are not renting a car at the airport, you can taxi in to the hotel. If you are planning on renting a car, you might want to taxi in to the city and rent the car at the hotel. It was a hassle renting the car at the airport and then having to return it.
If you are in the Fall River,MA area, you might want to check with one of the travel agencies that specialize in trips to the Acores. They could also arrange for your vis it to Graciosa and a car rental if you need one. Have a wonderful time. I hope to get to Sao Miguel again soon. It is my favorite place to be. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lorraine Price" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, January 15, 2012 11:18:19 AM Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] traveling to Azores My husband and I plan to go to the Azores in July to further search my ancestry. We’re looking for the best flights and hotels. It seems package deals are much less expensive but which ones? Where is the main airport? Also, will want to spend time on Graciosa but how best to travel there? Would appreciate any help with this. Thanks. -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected].
