Hi again,
About a month ago I think I mentioned the amusing story about us going to a
supermarket in Winchester, MA, and bumping into a lady - about our age
She turned out to be from a PACHECO family in Cambridge, MA, connected with
the "Willow Furniture Store" there.
My husband and her (unknown name) didn't know each other, but she
resembled my husband's sister.
When I went to remind myself of my old postings on the Azores List at
www.rootsweb.com, I discovered one old posting I had forgotten about.
I had found an obituary from 2003 of Joseph PACHECO of then Arlington, MA.
I looked on-line and he was born in Cambridge in 1912 and had the parents,
Manual M. PACHECO and Margarida (RAPOZA) PACHECO.
I haven't gotten around to finding the family in the 1910 or 1920 census.
But, I was wondering if anyone is researching this family. Joseph Mario
PACHECO ("Joe Willow") was probably the grandfather of this lady at the
supermarket.
My husband grew up with his grandmother telling her grandchildren that the
other PACHECO families in Cambridge were .not. related to them. I believe
that Elsie was so angry with her late husband that she refused to talk about
him. (Killed in a car accident in 1928 in MA.) As in my other posting
this morning, Antonio PACHECO, came from the village of Sao Roque on Sao
Miguel, b~1885. ... It would be very nice if I could find out if Manuel
PACHECO came from the same village.
A few years ago I heard from a researcher who was part of a PACHECO family
in Cambridge, and she said that .her. family had also come from Sao Roque.
Right now I can't remember which family she was part of, so I can't
remember whether it could have been the family from the "Willow Furniture
Store." There was another PACHECO family in Cambridge at the same time.
The 1920 census has about 15 people in Cambridge and Somerville, MA, with
the PACHECO name, and a few more were in Lowell, MA. And "Tony" was found
in one census with the PACHICO spelling.
