I noticed the name Silva in your message. I have been trying to
trace my great grandmothers family in the US and back. She was
Jennie Silva Solomon 1857, her brother Manuel Silva Solomon 1851, and
their father Joseph Silva Solomon"Salamina?)abt 1821.
If you come across these people in your research please let me know.

I am also told that my grandmother's father may have been left at
an orphanage on a table. Any information about how orphanages were
run would be appreciated.
