Be careful with indexing microfilms. If you are using microfilms from a Family History Center, the majority of them have a warning label on them these days. The warning labels differ. The films I have at the FHC, with records from Graciosa have a warning label that says: Warning! By contract between the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU) and the owner (s) of some or all of the included records, this microfilm may not be: Sold, Duplicated, Distributed, Extracted, or Indexed Except under limited circumstances. To all who may be interested, I have started indexing records from Graciosa. I am beginning with the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Luz in Luz, and will branch out to the other parishes of Sao Matheus, Santa Cruz and Guadalupe. All the records are going into my excel database so hopefully at somepoint I can have the database available to whomever. In the mean time, if anyone needs me to do a lookup for any records on Graciosa that have been microfilmed, let me know.
