Dear Lister,

This email came to me from the Asst. Director of our local Family History
Center hear in Monterey.

I thought that it would be an informative article for all. Rosemarie

Here is a link to an article about the latest records posted at
FamilySearch.org. http://www.genealogyblog.com/?p=17332

FamilySearch now has 20 databases specific to California. Of note is
the*CA Birth Index 1905-1995.
* Last month the *CA Death Index 1905-1939 *was posted as a browsable
collection. That means there is not yet an online index, but you can view
the images of the microfiche index just as you would on the Vitalsearch
website, so it is very useful. They also have the *CA Death Index
1940-1997* as a searchable index. Ancestry has the 1940-1997 but not the
1905-1939.

Both the CA birth and death indexes have great information and are some of
my go-to resources for CA research. You can find *mother's maiden
names*on these as well as
*father's name*, birth and death dates and places, Social Security #, death
cert. #. Check it out!
