John, Please on pass on my information to whoever is organizing "Amigos das Flores" in Fresno. My sister lives in Clovis and I live in Southern California. We might like to attend.

(I actually don't remember the cousin who told me). You say that pages appeared to have been torn out. That might indicate that someone in the past who had access to the parish registers was trying to cover up an embarassing illegitmate birth to protect the "family honor" At this point, who knows.. Given that Lomba is such a small place, there's a very good chance that we're related! Several of my Lomba cousins have immigrated to the US. Some live in the Fresno California area, Some live in the Stoughton Mass area. If you live in Califonia, You might be interested in coming this fall to "Amigos das Flores" in Fresno on Saturday September 29. It's sort of a "Flores reunion" I am copying Alcidia Gomes. the orgsnizer of this event. John Vasconcelos. I noticed that the records don't go back very far there, so I am not surprised that there might have been a fire. In the book I was referring to in the original post, it seems like maybe the pages were ripped out. Very sad... According to a cousin who was also born in Lomba, many records are missing She thinks there might have been some records lost in a fire. The situation is particularly bad in my paternal grandmother's line which I've only been able to trace back five generations. Or perhaps they never existed because a church burned down or something? I can't see a note in the book which explains the sitution, and I also looked at the baptisms, and didn't see a bunch of marriages appear there, although I didn't do a record by record search. Does anyone happen to know what may have happened to these records? TIA -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected]. Follow the confirmation directions when they arrive.
