Hello,

I missed the original post about the book about the Azoreans on Martha's
Vineyard (MA/US), so I don't know if it was already mentioned that there
is a Mailing List at www.rootsweb.com on the subject: Sometimes
searching the archives of the Lists (and Boards) will find interesting
information for you.

http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Ethnic-Portuguese/MA-MVPGP.html

(and there is a way to search the archives of .all. Lists for a surname or
place-name)

And, I believe there is a web site which goes along with the List.

And, when I did an on-line search for "Azores, Martha's Vineyard," I
came across this newspaper article from the "Martha's Vineyard Times."
On quick look I'm not seeing a date for the article. It's about a
resident's first trip to the Azores:

And, if you search the archives of the newspaper for "Pacheco," you will
find the name mentioned many times. Here is one article you might like
to read:

Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA)

(My research for the Azores is about the ancestors of my husband, 2
couples: Joao and Jacintha (deJesus/COSTA) PACHECO and Francisco and
Philomena (ROSE) MOURA from Sao Miguel. Son, Antonio PACHECO, b1885,
and daughter, Elsie MOURA, b1895?, both came to Massachusetts ~1905, and
married in Cambridge, MA. As I've mentioned before, when Elsie lost her
husband to a car accident in 1929, she stopped talking about him. So,
the grandchildren grew up not knowing that other Pacheco's in MA were
related to them. I just heard from a researcher who asked whether the
families in Cambridge / Somerville, MA, had a relative with the first name
of Adelaide. I haven't had a chance to ask my husband about this.)

(I'm told the other PACHECO's in Cambridge were related to them; I don't
know if they had relatives in other cities or on Martha's Vineyard. I
also don't know whether State Senator Marc Pacheco has done his
family-tree.)
