FWIW, "cubres" are the yellow flowers that also lent the island of Flores its name (NOT the blue hydrangeas that many assume, erroneously). According to my distant cousin in Calheta, cubres are unfortunately endangered these days by all the invasive introduced plants in the Azores. Katharine.
