Yes, Nordeste is where you would look before 1700 for people that came from Nordestinho, Pedreira, Grota de Bravo, Algarvia, Santo Antonio and a few others. Really all areas in or attached to Nordeste that later developed enough to have their own churches or chapels. Evne Salga often appears in Nordeste and Nordestinho as well as Achadinha and Achada. You will still find many families missing unless they appear in one of the works on Sao Miguel geneaology, such as Rodrigues, Machado, etc. I don't your family goes back any further, though without a doubt, they are connected to the main Nordeste branches of Furtados, Costas, Paivas, etc. I will have a look in my database.
