Sam,
Do you have any other information on your Ana's family, her brother,
father...anything that might match my information. Do you have a tree
posted somewhere? I have a tree on Ancestry with some pictures of
Jennie.(Borba Family Tree) with me(Ardath Adair Borba)as the home
person.

Adair, There is a possibility that we have a connection but; at
this point I don’t have enough information to tell you. Give the
1857 date for your Jennie S. Silva, there is the possibility that
she is a sister to my Ana Emilia Silva/Silveira. We suspect that
Ana may have entered the U.S. as a stowaway…
My Ana also married in RI and lived the rest of her life there.
Good luck in your search, Sam in CA

This is probably a long shot, but my great grandmother was Jennie
Solomon Silva 1857 Azores. I believe her father was Joseph Silva
1821. Rumor has it that she and 1 or 2 sisters were stow aways on a
whaling ship(arranged) by her older brother, which arrived in RI in
around 1866. I know Jennie married in Rhode Island to Manuel Borba,
and that she and her brother made their way to Northern California,
but I know nothing about her sisters, father or mother for sure.

Richard; Actually, Cousin Al told me it was an Al Ball that he had
the match with. Perhaps he had more than one person with matches to
him. I’ll send him an email and ask.
Wish I had more to go on with my grandmother but; unfortunately, I
don’t. Ana Emilia Silva b. Abt. 1855 somewhere in the Azores. D.
24 Aug 1916 in Providence, RI. Parents: Francisco J. and Maria
Conciecao. Ana arrive in the U.S. sometime btw 1873 and 1883
(Depends which census you read) That’s and who she married and her
descendents is all I know about her.
Thanks, Sam in CA

Hi Sam,
I am the family finder match with your cousin Al Rose. All of my
people came from Sao Miguel in particular Bretanha, and Rebeira
Grande. I do have some Silva’s in my line.
I have a Joao da Silva who with Maria Espirito Santo had a daughter
Rita Espirito Santo in 1812 in Ribeira Grande Rita would be my 3rd
Great grandmother.
My 2nd great grandmother Maria Julia Silva was the daughter of
Manuel Silva Tavares and Rosa Jacinta who were married in Santissimo
Salvador in 1862.
I am keeping my eye out for a connection.

Hello Listers; My cousin, Al Rose, has made what we thing is a
giant hole in our mutual brick wall but; we have yet to verify it.
I’m wondering if any list members are working on or have this line
in their history.
Francisco Jose Silveira b. unknown, m. 22 Jan 1814 in Flores to
Maria de Joaquina da Trindade, b. unknown
Ana Emilia Silva was the ggrandmother of both Al and I and we have
been searching for years for her birthplace and ancestors. We knew
from her marriage record that her parents names were: Francisco J.
and Maria but; other than when she immigrated and who she married,
that was about the extent of our knowledge on her line.
Cousin Al did the Family Finder test at FTdna and there was a
connection shown between him and another fellow. In researching
their ancestors, the Silveira line surfaced and although we have
always know our ggrandmother by the name of Ana Emilia Silva as
opposed to Silveira we now strongly suspect that the Francisco and
Maria above may be our gggrandparents. If anyone has any info. on
this couple, it would be greatly appreciated if you would share with
us.
Thanks in advance, Sam in CA
