Katharine, I also remember the marinated pork chops. My dad  used to fix 
them in the winter and I remember gathering watercress for the soup.  Alas my 
parents have passed and my mother was German, and most of her dishes  were 
that origin. My dad would do most of the dishes he grew up on. I only  
remember his Philos (Fayas) as I called them. Would be nice to fix the pork and 
 
the watercress soup, but the places we gathered are no longer here.
My Grand parents came from Fajazinha,  Faha Grande  Flores.
