Well I struck out again in trying to find my gggrandfathers village on Faial. I tried a index search for his naturalization paperwork with the USCIS.gov website with zero findings, they said because of when he became a citizen the records could be if at all in the state, county, city or town archives. I tried Bristol county in Mass, they said no good, so I tried Dartmouth where he lived with no luck, they are sending me his death certificate but that only says he was from Faial. Would he have needed a passport to leave the azores and since he was from Faial and probably left from that port would a record of passport be there and would it show his village of origin? ?His name was Antonio Silveira Pereira Sr., from what I've been told he arrived in New Bedford on April 1st, 1888, but for his arrival that is all I'm partially sure of. Any ideas?
