Thank you Rose for this link. It has given me a better understanding of all the names, but it is confusing. My GGrandfather Joaquim Machado Pereira changed his name to Anthony Mitchell when he came to Australia and the family always said that Mitchell was the neighbours' name. I didn't believe them but now it makes sense. Thank you also for all the other replies. Diane
