Hello cousins.

Manoel, I see how we're connected. The Camelo Pereira line is
interesting. This makes us probably 11th cousins, or something like that.
My most recent Pereiras lived in Sao Roque (Rosto de Cao).

Eliseu, I look forward to seeing your report. No rush.

Hermano, Pedro Esteves Rocha e Machado (or Machado da Rocha--I've seen it
spelled both ways) is my 17th great-grandfather, as well. He sounds like a
colorful and possibly dangerous character. Does this make us 18th
cousins? We're already 3rd cousins, if I recall correctly, on the Frias
line. I think our common ancestor on that side is Jose de Frias Bode.

Dano and Henrietta, we're definitely cousins. This is great. We should
all compare detailed reports. Do either of you have ancestors living in
Sao Roque in the 19th century?

Here in upstate New York we're expecting the storm, now a post-tropical
cyclone, to bring heavy rain and winds. The people on the coast have it a
lot worse. But things are tense right now, and these genealogical
discoveries are a good diversion..

Best wishes,
Nancy
