I had a great-grand Uncle who's name was Jose Martin da Costa when he left Sao Miguel in 1882 and went to Hawaii on the Hansa Steamship. Around 1905, he and his wife, Joaquina and children left Maui and moved to California. They lived in Westwood, CA,; Florida for a couple years, then returned to CA. They now have offspring throughout California and a few in Florida. I'm wondering if any of my "Martin" cousins might be a member of this group so we can get acquainted? When he, Joseph Martin and wife, Joaquina died, they were living in Oakland, CA. Joseph and Joaquina's children were Alice, Minnie, Joe, Manuel, Mary, John, Rita, Frank and Greg.
