About 6 or 7 yrs. ago I tried to help one of my husband's cousins find more
information about his MEDEIROS family. His wife was not overly successful
and neither was I. I just checked on-line and it looks like I only posted
queries on a few places. I found an old posting on the Azores List which
showed his grandparents as Philip MEDEIROS and Maria MIRANDA. He was
born in the Azores, and probably married Maria there. I can only say from
memory that I think some of their many children were born there, and some in
MA/US. They lived in Cambridge and Somerville, MA.
But, also from memory, I think we found out that some of their children,
when married, moved to Fall River or New Bedford. The son we are
interested in was Francisco "Frank" MEDEIROS, born Apr. 1895 in MA.
Probably around 1920, he married Carolina MOURA, b~1903 in the Azores.
She migrated to MA as a teen with her widowed mother, and had 4 siblings
here.
Frank and Carolina had 2 sons. But both the father and the older son had
health problems and both died before their time. The family is found in
the 1940 census in Cambridge, MA, but the page says in 1935 they were
living in Somerville, MA.
I was wondering if anyone had any information on Philip and Maria MEDEIROS'
family that they could share. (During the day I'll try to find my folder
of papers from my old research.)
