Rita is Rita in Portuguese. It is the name of an Italian saint (St Rita).
When I first saw the name I thought it was Margarida shortened and it had me
looking at the wrong line. My GGG grandfather first Married Margarida de
Jesus and married second Rita de Jesus so I was confused in the early dark
ages of my research.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Marriage Record - Relative who immigrated from
Fayal

Good Day,

I am trying to find information regarding Rita (Garcia) Duarte. She married
Joseph Duarte in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. I think they married in 1901 or
1902. She was born March 23, 1882 in Fayal. She immigrated through New
York, NY, Sept 29, 1897 on the Penninsular. I haven't been able to find the
ship log, so I am not sure if she traveled alone.

Any guidance to finding her would be so appreciated.

Also, what is Rita in Portugese?

Much Appreciation.
