Gail, I believe that Brooklyn Township is now Oakland. St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery has a lot of Portuguese buried there that lived in Oakland. You might try look there. Celeste Celeste Perry [email protected]

My grandmother Aldina Silveria Leal Facha was buried there in 1931. She too lived in the Brooklyn Township at the time of her death. I think this is a large Portuguese cemetery for the county of Alameda as I have several family members buried there. Good luck with your search. Mary Dias is my grandfather’s sister and I have been trying to find out where there are buried but right now I’ve hit a road block. Mary (deSouza) Dias was born around 1883, in Wainaku HI and married Joseph Dias who was born around 1874 in Portugal. The last known census I found them in was in 1930 in Brooklyn Township in Alameda County California. They had a daughter named Annie Dias who I found living with her sister Mary & Joseph Correia in the 1940 census in San Leandro. From family members they were both dead by 1941 as they can remember. Assuming they died between 1930 and 1940 I tried ordering death certificates for that time period and they found none. I have searched on ancestry for any census, obituaries and death index and can’t find anything. Do any of you have suggestions as to where I should go from here?
