I didn't realize you are Judy Thompson.
You are projected as a 5th cousin for my father and for me and it's an example of people with Lajes do Pico ancestry linking to my family, but the link is beyond what the records can prove.

The link could come from your Mamão line, or Nicolau de Ávila, maybe Maciel, and Alvernaz, maybe Porto, certainly by Valim and by Simas, but the exact links are unknown.

I think all these are combining to show a closer link than reality.

You and my father have 26.53 shared CM and the longest block is 10.95, compared to the next match down having 10.81 and is a proven 4th cousin, once removed (list member Mike Gilfilian). I think the reason Mike's projection is accurate is that he has very little other Pico DNA in common and so our link is close enough to show accurately.
