The recent talk about ancestors in Hawaii reminded me of my own connection to one Manuel Enos.My father wrote to this list a few years ago the following message:I have in my files (info from funeral notices in the Sacramento Bee) some names which seem to match yours:

He married twice. By one wife he had these children:
1. Marion Enos, d.11-11-1927, age 63, m. to Caroline Bettencourt, d.4-29-1922, age 53. Caroline also married a Nevis and had son Antone J. Nevis.
The children of Marion Enos and Caroline Bettencourt:
1. Thomas Marion Enos, d.7-23-1952, m.Lulu______, and had children Gene, Caroline & Jacqueline.
2. Joseph m._______; children Ronald and Joe
3.Mary Enos, d.3.8-1949, m.Manuel Mello
By Andrew Enos' second wife Maria__________, who d.1-27-1931. Children:
1.Joseph Enos=Hazel Rabello, with child Margaret Enos who married twice, to a Wilson and to a Camponella.
2.Manuel Enos, 1881-1962, married to Emilia Leal,
widow of Jose Francisco Silveira (my grandparents).
3.Mary Enos=Frank "Biscaia" Silva.
4.John Enos
5.Louis Enos d.10-8-1977,age 98.
6Frank Enos=Rose Costa(?) d.7-21-1955(84), with children Emma, d.1-2-1986,age 87; Minnie, who married a Harder and a Hustak; Lillian R. Enos, d.1-5-1973, age 66, m.Arthur L. Williams; Ralph F. Enos, d.7-27-1995, b.1912, m. to Ruth______.

Lionel Rocha HolmesMy interest is in the above person named Manuel Enos, born in 1881 in Hawaii. As stated above, he married Emilia Cândida Leal who was the widow of José Francisco Silveira, my great-grandparents, natives of São Roque do Pico.José Francisco Silveira had died in a terrible accident involving horses on his ranch in the Pocket Area of Sacramento, along the Sacramento River, close to the place now called Silveira Way. Manuel Enos helped out on the farm and eventually married my great-grandmother. He was known to me as Grandpa Enos. His family was from Madeira, though he was born in Hawaii himself. It's been a while since I've tried to learn where in Madeira this family came from. I am sure the passport books were not yet published, so I could just look them up.Maybe someone on the list has some connection to this family and the above information could help them.We have at least one picture of him that a relative would probably like to see. It was taken about 1960 just a little before he died.Doug da Rocha Holmes--
