Fawnie, Records LEAVING the Azores or records ARRIVING in America?
For the records LEAVING the Azores (called Passaportes), you will need to either go to Horta yourself or hire a researcher to look for you. I'm not sure if you emailed the archive if they would look all through the year 1893 for you or not. The Horta records are not online yet. For records ARRIVING in America (called Arrival Records, Immigration lists, ship's lists, etc), you can look at Ancestry, but not all ports are online. Boston is the nearest port to Cambridge. You will also need to check New York (Ellis Island). They opened in 1892, so hopefully, your 1893 date is correct. I believe all of Ellis is online at the Ellis Island web site or on Ancestry. You can possibly check your FHC or NARA, although they may not have the entire film series, depending upon which branch you visit. If you can't find them at Ellis (NY) or Boston, I'd try New Bedford or Providence next. You will need to search under DaRosa, Da Rosa, Rosa, Rose, and I'd try DaRoza, Da Roza, Roza as well. And any other crazy spelling you may have found in your searches.
