Catherine, Joseph Lewis Brown (or the other way) will appear as Jose Luis Brum in the Portuguese records.
Faial is an island and has about 12 or 13 villages on it. Faial da Terra is a village on the island of Sao Miguel. Sao Miguel has about 70 villages. The islands of Faial and Sao Miguel might be a couple of hundred miles apart. I'm sure someone on this list knows. You're going to need to ascertain which ISLAND first and then find the village. Where are you getting the words "Faial da Terra" versus "Faial" from?
