I see you just got back your Family Finder DNA results for GRANT and I and my father both match.
Did you ever trace your father's line back through your Melo to Domingos da Rocha in Terceira? That's our common ancestor.
We also connect in Terceira at Lourenco de Freitas and his wife - sort of. Neither one is my ancestor, but both their parents are my ancestors, if that makes sense. But that connection is one generation further back for you, so Domingos is the closest.
And on your Sao Roque lines, did you ever trace it back far enough to Heitor Pereira? That's our closest connection in Sao Roque - from about 450 years ago.
I was reminded that I messed up when you proposed a 6th cousin connection between us. I went back and proposed it back to you and it's still pending.
I am your father's 5th cousin, once removed. My father and your father are 5th cousins. I'll go ahead and make that proposal to you.
