Doreen, Some of those distant matches seem to be not right at all. The only thing I can think of is that someone has the surname of Miller (or something Anglicized) and they find something in the British Isles and their research is wrong.
I try to connect with those who have the most centoMorgans or have large blocks. I'll get to the 5th - Distant level if I see some relevant. I'm not going to bother if their trees don't seem to have anything in common with mine.
