Manoel,

They probably can’t get permission from the Azorean government. I know when the
records were originally filmed by the Utah Gen. Society there were legalities
put on the records about making indexes etc. So that is probably the problem
now, no permissions otherwise I would think that they would have digitized the
records and put them on FamilySearch.

I really don´t know what is happening, but here in Brazil the FamilySearch has
put on line all the parish records for many States including mine the State of
São Paulo. So I could research all the records, marriages, baptisms and obitos,
for Cravinhos the first town where my ancestors from S. Miguel lived in the
1890s and found all I didn´t know yet, that my Botelho’s were from Lagoa, my
Viveiros from Capelas and my Tavares de Medeiros from Rabo de Peixe.

Why doesn´t the FamilySearch do the same for Azores?

That's the truth. But very disgusting. It is really hard to try to copy
something off of the CCA site.

Yes it will be nice when they will all be online. Since most of the smaller
LDS libraries in the states are not upgrading their printers and alot of the
film readers they are not fixing.

We heard the same thing during a recent visit to the Archivo. The Vila
Franca do Campo records are all ready to go, but for some reason they have not
been posted on the web site yet. We asked an employee what was causing the
delay, but didn't really get an answer. It was nice, however, to be able to
view the records on one of the two computers available however, versus pulling
out the old books. We look forward to the day when we can see these records
at out leisure without making a trip or looking at microfilms.

        Hi John,

There haven't been any updates to the CCA online parish records in
several months now.. The Joao Ventura you contacted is, I believe, an employee
of DRAC so he may have an insider access to the unreleased stuff.

I've been making a site to track the updates to the Portuguese parishes
records online, and I haven't seen anything in the Azores for months. Portugal
itself is going through an interesting some-records-every-day phase since early
July (see http://tombo.pt). I've spoken to an employee of the Horta Archive and
he indicated that the rest of the Horta parishes are ready for release but
they're stuck somewhere in the process. Hopefully it doesn't have anything to
do with the fact that some DRAC employees can get paid to supply them on the
side.

        Regards,

I was curious if anyone knows when and if additional records will be
added to the Culturacores website. I have been checking in every once in a
while to see if Flamengos, Faial records have been added. Has there been
activity for other islands and parishes? It has been such an invaluable
resource. I noticed some of the records I ordered through Joao Ventura also
had the watermark (DRAC-EPARJJG) similar to those images on the website. Those
ordered records came from parishes not on the website. That seems to suggest
the records are in existence but not yet uploaded? Joao is a great asset but
sometimes I have to just read all the records online to get him a starting
point.
