Manoel, I can only go back to my ggrandparents at the moment - on my grandparents' marriage certificate they are listed as Manoel Martins and Polinaria de Jesus. My grandmother' obit confirms the Martins Gouveia last name (along with family oral history) so there may be a connection. My grandmother had siblings in the Açores and Bermuda if that helps.
