Based on an earlier post, I filled out a G-1041 Genealogy Index Search
Request and sent it to the USCIS with $20 on 23 August 2013. I got an
answer dated 8 October 2013 and was happy to learn that my grandfather
became a naturalized citizen in 1927 (new information to me!) and that
USCIS has a "C-File" containing other, possibly new information such as
where and when he arrived in the US. I filled out a G-1041A Genealogy
Records Request and sent it to USCIS with another $20. I am now anxiously
awaiting photocopies of the documents in the C-File.

The process could not have been easier. Thanks!
